My Story

I will be running my first ever 10km for Fareshare Sussex and Surrey. I am definitely not a natural athlete but sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone and just go for it!

I am a volunteer for Fareshare Sussex and Surrey and see firsthand the impact and importance of the work they do. I have been lucky to have done various roles during my time with them including working in the warehouse, going out in the vans delivering to projects and even cooking ( I know hard to believe 😂) I volunteer with truly amazing people who are dedicated to the work we do.

Fareshare rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets and farms. This food is nutritious, in date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. They deliver it to charities, schools, food banks, community pantries and fridges and other organisations serving vulnerable people.

Food poverty is a huge and growing problem, and 13.4 million people including 4 million children in the UK live in households that struggle to afford to buy enough fruit, vegetables, fish and other healthy foods.

Thank you 🙏
